Welcome to Ironwood Gardens.
Why not challenge yourself to eat locally and discover all the food that's
available in from Ironwood Gardens and Leeds county in eastern Ontario.
The earth is where our food come from. It is becoming abruptly clear that the
existing practices of agriculture and food distribution are probably not
sustainable.
2009 was our first year of small scale organic grain production. We are focused
on growing heritage varieties of wheat, and providing local freshly stone-
ground flour.
Products include:
- Red fife wheat berries
- Red fife whole wheat flour
- Rye flour
In October of 2010, we were proud to provide Red fife wheat to the
Delta
Mill, for their initial milling following a long restoration. This was the first
stone grinding of grain in 100 years.
In the next few years, we hope to introduce other heritage wheat flours,
including Preston and White Fife.
